Robert Carpenter Obituary
Robert (Bob) Russell Carpenter, 82, of Trumansburg, NY, passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2015 at Hospicare of Ithaca. He was born in Trumansburg to Gladys Russell and Raymond Lemont Carpenter. He retired from the Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local 267 and operated the family farm. Bob would spend many days going out to dinner, watching car races, watching family sporting events and loved John Deere tractors. He was a member of the Enfield Valley Grange #295, and the first Baptist Church of Trumansburg. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Leahbelle Gray Carpenter and his sister, Arlene (Carl) Smith. He was survived by long- time companion, Ellen O'Bryan; his brother, Gerald Carpenter; his children, Marcia (Bruce) Hatfield, Robert (Linda) Carpenter, Melinda (Brian) Durfee, Russell (Sarah) Carpenter, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob will be made to either American Diabetes Association or Hospice Care of Ithaca, 127 E. King Rd., Ithaca, 14850. Services will be held Monday, September 21 at 12:00 pm at West Hill Community Church with calling hours from 10-12.
