Jean Lynott Obituary

Jean M. Lynott, Dunmore, died Wednesday evening at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem.

Born in Montclair, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Agnes Flanagan Lynott. Raised and educated in Scranton, she graduated from St. Mary's High School and received her bachelor's degree in business from Marywood College. Jean would enjoy a rewarding career in higher education and government administrative positions, including director of financial aid at Marywood, and afterward, in human resources, for more than 20 years at Tobyhanna Army Depot, before retirement.

Jean especially enjoyed dining out with family and friends, and she traveled extensively, treasuring her time in Italy. At home, she was an exceptional cook, a habitual reader and was talented in the art of crochet. Jean was always a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Peter's Cathedral.

She is survived by a sister, Anne Miesko and husband, Stanley, Scranton; a brother, Dr. Paul Lynott and wife, Karen, Bethlehem; two nieces, four nephews, two great-nieces and a great-nephew; and many cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Smith.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore.

A visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 715 Linden St., Scranton. Those attending the funeral Mass are kindly asked to proceed directly to the church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Foundation for Cancer Care, 236 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503; or to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
