Nancy Rosenbloom Obituary

ROSENBLOOM
On Thursday, May 3rd, Nancy "Betty" Hoyt Rosenbloom passed away peacefully surrounded in love by her family after a long, courageous battle with leukemia. She was born November 8, 1950 in Greensboro, NC to Ralph and Nancy Hoyt. At the age of five her family moved to Jacksonville. She grew up in the Ortega neighborhood and attended Stockton Elementary, St. Johns Country Day, Mount Vernon Seminary for Girls, and graduated from Robert E. Lee in 1969. She went on to attain a degree in advertising from the University of Florida, becoming a life-long Gator fan.
Betty was an industrious person having grown up in family businesses - Hoyt Stereo and The Pineapple Post. While attending college she held a part-time job in the UF Administration Building. Not long after graduation she moved to Atlanta and became one of the first graduates from Mercer University's paralegal school. She resided in Atlanta for a few years with her younger sister, Anne Carlson, and three of her childhood friends, Debbie Gay, Susie Wells and Betty Taylor. There were many great stories from those years that forged lifelong friendships.
On May 1, 1976 she married her high school boyfriend, Percy Rosenbloom III. They spent their first years together in Harriman, TN where Percy was employed in one of his family's businesses. They returned to Jacksonville soon after the birth of their first child and have remained here ever since. While raising her growing family, Betty continued to work both inside and outside of her home. She ran her own successful business, IDSystems.com, for more than twenty years.
Betty inherited a keen eye for color and interior design from her mother and a commitment to help others from her father. Betty was a compassionate soul who gave of herself in many ways. She kept an impeccably neat home; she was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed spending time with two groups of very close girlfriends. She had a deep love for animals; especially rescue dogs.
Betty was very active in her church, Riverside Presbyterian, where she was a fourth generation member. She served as a Deacon, an Elder, Sunday school teacher, and a youth leader. Most recently she was instrumental in founding a care givers support group.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy
Carter Hoyt. She is survived by her father, Ralph Wadleigh Hoyt, her husband, Percy Rosenbloom III, her children and their spouses, Christine and Robert Lyons, Hoyt and Holly Rosenbloom, Carter and Leigh Rosenbloom, as well as six grandchildren; her two sisters and their spouses, Brooks and John Rob Holland, and Anne and Steve Carlson.
The family wishes to thank Betty's many friends for their love and support over the last few years, and the healthcare professionals at both St. Vincent's and Mayo in Jacksonville. A memorial service will take place Monday, May 7th at 11:30AM in the sanctuary of Riverside Presbyterian. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or First Coast No More Homeless Pets. You may leave words of comfort and sympathy at www.Hardage-GiddensEdgewood.com. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, EDGEWOOD CHAPEL, 729 S. Edgewood Avenue, is serving the family.

Percy, Getting ready to leave for the Rotary District Conference in Amelia Island and thinking about your conference in St. Augustine a few years ago. Betty couldn't attend. I didn't know why but she did call several times. She asked: "how many people are there?", "Is there a good turn out?", "Are people having a good time?" etc. I could tell she really wanted to be there and support you. It was a hard time for her and for you as I learned later. Betty was always so sweet to me and was supportive during my tough times. She was one of a kind and I'm glad you had each other. I'll be praying for you and your family because I know the loss will be hard. Your great fun memories will help in the long run. I wish blessings for you and yours. Miriam
