Andrè DUPUIS Obituary

DUPUIS Andrè J. Andrè J. Dupuis departed this earthly life on February 3rd, 2010. Andrè graduated from Whitmer High School in 1984. While attending high school Andrè played in the marching band and the orchestra. After he graduated he worked for the Andersons and then for Burlington Air Express later BAX. Andrè went to work for the Lucas County Sheriff's Department as a corrections officer at the Lucas County Jail in July of 1999 and remained there until his death. In 1994 Andrè graduated with honors from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science. His studies in history helped foment a fervent interest in World War II and he became thoroughly engrossed in magazines, books, videos and anything else that satisfied his hunger for knowledge of this epic event. Andrè was an avid supporter of the San Francisco 49ers in good times and bad. He was also a devout fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. The thrill of the victory and the agony of defeat was ever present when he was engaged in various video and other games. He was well challenged by either of his sons Dustin or Devin. He got little competition in the heyday of bar games from his dad beating him in all manner of games at the local pubs. He was a master of Pac Man. Andrè will be sorely missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his father, Ray Dupuis; mother, Joann Baldwin; sons, Dustin and Devin Roberts; brother, Geoffrey Dupuis; nephew, Jacob Dupuis; niece, Sierra Dupuis and stepfather, Morrie Baldwin. The family will receive guests Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Private. Come lovely and soothing death, undulated round the world, serenely arriving, arriving, in the day, in the night, to all, to each, sooner or later, delicate death, Praised be the fathomless universe, for life and joy, and for objects and knowledge curious, and for love, sweet love - but praise ! praise! praise! For the sure-enwinding arms of cool-enfolding death. From a work by Walt Whitman To leave a special message for Andrè's Family, please visit www.NewcomerToledo.com

On behalf of the Brother and Sisters of the LCSO Non-Command Unit, UAW, Local 3056 I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Andre. Andre has touched the lives of so many during the tenure of his employment with the Lucas County Sheriff's Office. He was a good officer representing a fine balance of compassion, empathy as well as authority. He seemed to be a gentle soul but often displayed a wit sharpened by his intelligence. I hope you find solace in the knowledge that he will be missed by many. May our thoughts and prayers be with you during your time of need.

Dustin,Devin,Dad,Papa Ray,Grandma Joann,Papa Morrie,Jacob and Sierra words cannot began to express how sorry I am for your loss. Uncle Andre was a well loved person who could always make anyone laugh. I was blessed to be able to have him be a part of my life and proud to be able to call him my uncle. When I heard of his passing memories of my childhood came flooding back, swimming in the pool at grandma and papa's, family get-togethers and much more. If there is anything that I can do for you all please don't hesitate to ask. I love you all!!

To one of the best friends I ever had. I'm not a good writer so this is the only way I know to say good bye:
And the men who hold who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
to mould a new reality
closer to the heart
The blacksmith and the artist
reflected in their arts
forge their creativity
Closer to the heart
Philosophers and plowmen each must know his part
To sew a new mentality
Closer to the heart
you can be the captain I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
Closer to the heart.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you all.

If we had the chance to say "Good-bye" then this is what I'd say:

Dear Andre’:

I know we’ve had our ups and downs over the past 25 years. But we can’t deny that we shared some pretty good times together. And out of something good came something really great… our boys.

How can you properly thank someone for giving such a cherished gift as our 2 boys. The words “Thank you” just don’t seem like enough to express how grateful I am.

I am also grateful to you for making it possible to know so many wonderful people, that had it not been for you, I may have never known. Your family, my husband, my best friend, and many other wonderful friends.

And although I know you will be watching over the boys, like their own personal guardian angel, I hope it will bring you some comfort and peace to know that I will do whatever I can to help ease their pain from missing you. That will be a difficult journey.

I will end this farewell letter by honoring your intellectual side with a quote:

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal
Author: Albert Pike

Love,

Kelly

My heart is breaking for all of you. I know how much his family meant to him.

Dustin and Devin are devastated by the loss of their father. They so enjoyed staying with him. Dustin looked forward to his overnight visits and "hanging out". Devin knew how proud his father would be to see him graduate from college.

I will miss Andre and our connection to the boys. He was always cooperative with our family functions and sharing the boys with their grandmother.

I will never forget the fun we had in the pond during the summer and the meals we shared together.

May God be with all of you and help you through this very difficult time.

Our memories will never go away, and I promise to do anything I can to help his sons remember him and all the wonderful times they shared together.

Love,

(Grandma) Judy Sengstock
