Carl was born on August 29, 1942 and passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019. Carl was a resident of Enfield, North Carolina at the time of passing. Carl received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System, graduated from the former Eastman High School with the class of 1960, and also attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. On September 4, 1964, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 29, 2019, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Herbert C. Scott will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Mills Family Cemetery, Mills Road, Hollister, NC.

For years, I was privileged in the 80's and 90's to build a strong relationship with Carl when he was a grants coordinator with DMV, Va. Carl not only provided guidance, but he provided insight and innovation. I never saw Carl lose his temper, even when I was frustrated with the results being realized by one of our grant projects and he always recommended solutions to problems that worked.

May our loving God welcome Carl into his kingdom with the love and respect that he genuinely earned on this earth and may his family receive comfort in these times of bereavement. I am so grateful that Carl Hewlin graced my life for all those years.
