Charles Ernest Thomas White, 87, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, with his wife and family by his side in Louisville, KY. Charles was born in Mt. Eden, KY on November 29, 1927 to the late Lola and Ernest White. Charles retired from Local 576 and then ran a successful home improvement business with his wife for many years following his retirement. He enjoyed cars, gardening, tinkering in the garage, sitting on the front porch, spending time with family, and sharing stories. He was loved by his family, friends and neighbors, and will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his brother, Paul, and great-grandchild, Dakota. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Virginia, and their children: Charlie (Jean), Danny, Debbie, and Mary, as well as his son Ricky (Debbie); his grandchildren: Kristen White, Shannon Newcomb (Bret), Michelle White, Michael White, Bobby White (Sarah), Jessica Lemmons (Michael), Amanda White, Austin Bennett, Jessy White (Melanie), and Joseph White; 8 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Peyton and Ralph. Funeral service will be held 12:00 pm on Thursday in Mount Washington Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Hwy 44 East at 123 Winning Colors Drive) with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Thursday at Schoppenhorst. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society. www.subfuneralhome.com
