Elmo Birdo Busby, Jr.

Elmo Birdo Busby, Jr., 80, retired owner of The Busby Company Inc. and resident of Indian Hills Road, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Songer and Pastor Christa Songer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Born November 22, 1936, in Tipton County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Elmo Birdo Busby, Sr. and the late Nollie Hill Busby. Mr. Busby was a member of the First Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, whom he married April 15, 1998, Catherine Pursley Busby; sons, Mark Busby; and Michael Busby; daughter, Debbie (Dean) Sutton; step sons, Brian (Christine) Boyd; and Michael Boyd; grandchildren, Randy (Deeanna) Sutton; and Carrie (Ryan) Ellis; step grandchildren, Daniel Boyd; and Lauren Boyd; great grandchildren, Avery Sutton; Westin Sutton; and Hannah Johnson; step great grandchild, Gavin Ellis; sister, Shirley (Jerry) Van Leeuwen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Busby; grandson, Jesse Sutton; and siblings, Carrie Busby Hutchison, Elnora Douglas; Elmar Busby; Kenneth Busby; and Rayford Busby. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
