Eric Winford Bjornlund died peacefully at the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on October 17, 2016.
Eric was born on January 11, 1924 in Norwalk, Connecticut, the son of Yngve and Olga Petterson Bjornlund. He grew up in Worcester and worked his entire adult life at the Rural Cemetery, Worcester.
He lived with his parents until 1990 and became one of the first residents at Southgate at Shrewsbury, a newly opened assisted living facility. He was a friendly man who enjoyed the love and companionship of his family and was well liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and reading. At Southgate, where his gentle nature was appreciated by all who knew him, he participated in various activities including plays, chorus and choir.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Oke and Olof. He is survived by his nephews, W. Bruce Bjornlund of East Montpelier, Vt. and Rev. Robert Bjornlund of Brooklyn Park, MN; and their families; cousins Robert O. Peterson of Leicester and Vivian C. Matson of Mendon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30pm on Tuesday, October 25th in St. Johns Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Interment will follow at the Rural Cemetery, Worcester. Arrangements are under the care of CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
