Julia L. Makoski

MAKOSKI, Julia L. (nee Lenard) was born on September 7, 1917 in Dilles Bottom, OH, and passed away on November 15, 2019 at the age of 102. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore and loving mother of Robert (Linda), Carol (Patrick) O'Keefe, and the late Mary Ellen. Treasured grandmother of Paige, RJ, Matthew (Kristine) Rizzo, Bryan (Shelley) O'Keefe, and Caitlin (Steve) Fleming. Proud and adored great grandmother of 9. Her love and dedication for family was unconditional. Julia worked for 15 years at Parke Davis in Detroit and, after raising her children, worked for Jacobsons Department store for 20 years in Rochester. She enjoyed cars, walking, Detroit sports and University of Michigan football. Some of her fondest memories were driving to and watching her son and grandchildren play various sports as well as her daughter and granddaughter dance. Taking the train to Ann Arbor with her husband to watch Tom Harmon and a Michigan football game was a favorite activity early in her marriage. She loved Northern Michigan and played golf until the age of 95. She was a member of the Women's Metropolitan Golf Association where she was an active player and bowled in a variety of leagues over the years. This remarkable woman will be missed by many. Visitation Friday 3-9pm with a 7pm Rosary & Sharing of Memories Service at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Rd. at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Saturday 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon, Birmingham, MI. 48009. Immediately following Mass a Funeral Luncheon will be held at Eddie Merlot's (37000 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, MI. 48304). In lieu of flowers, Julia's family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association of Michigan.
