Lucia A. Tondl

Lucia A. Tondl Age 82, passed away on April 28, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John, a retired Lt. Col; daughter, Catherine A. Nealand and husband, Greg of Laguna Hills, CA; daughter, Nancy M. Palmer and husband, Chris of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren, Christopher and Amanda Nealand, and Lee Palmer; nephew, Michael Esslinger of San Diego, CA; and nieces, Nan Esslinger of Woodland Hills, CA and Jan Landstedt of Ramona, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan D. and Anita C. Baca; and sister, Frances Esslinger. Lucia was born in 1930 in Concho, AZ, but grew up in Albuquerque. She attended Sacred Heart grade school and junior high and St. Mary's High School, graduating in 1948. She later attended Regina School of Nursing and then worked as an emergency room nurse at the Lovelace Clinic. She married 1st Lt. John A. Tondl on August 17, 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Albuquerque and then accompanied him during the next 19 years of his military career, except when he served in Vietnam. They were stationed in Chateauroux, France, Ohio, Florida and New Mexico, both at Holloman AFB and Kirtland AFB. We would like to thank the staff at St. Catherine's for the wonderful care she received during her stay. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, 7:00 p.m., at French - Lomas Chapel, with visitation one hour prior from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 3, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
