Lyle J. Rayevich, 71, of Oto, Iowa, passed away on November 28, 2012 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Oto American Legion Post #0651 of Oto, Iowa. There will be no burial. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Lyle John was born November 16, 1941 in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Albert George and Freda Matilda Maria (Schultz) Rayevich. He grew up in the Battle Creek and Danbury, Iowa area, and graduated from high school in Danbury. He performed his military service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from 1963-1969. Lyle worked at Westendorf Manufacturing in Smithland and then in Onawa, for various area farmers, as well as several other jobs following high school graduation and his military service. He then owned and operated Lyle's Auto Salvage, Inc. from the early 1970's until the present, where he met many friends and enjoyed helping them find the parts they were looking for. Lyle enjoyed fishing, his lake house, and spending time at Blue Lake. He also enjoyed working and being a member of the Oto American Legion Post #0651 of Oto, Iowa. He was a member of the Iowa Automobile Recyclers and the current mayor of Oto. Lyle is survived by his spouse, Judy Faber of Oto, IA; two sons, Kevin (Tonya Uhl) Rayevich of Oto, IA and David Rayevich of St. Joseph, MO; two stepdaughters, Shelly (Steve) Downard of Danbury, IA and Holly Faber of Smithland, IA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Eldon (Carol) Rayevich of Soldier, IA; three sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Kenning, Karol Patterson, and Sandra Walker; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Mack Rokke and Lillian Rokke; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Kenning, Alfred Dirks, and Scott Walker; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
