Msgr. John Patrick Sankovitz

Age 87 of St. Paul Pastor & Teacher Born in St. Paul, MN Nov. 8, 1922, the son of John and Mabel (Hanrahan) Sankovitz. Oldest of four children. Siblings: Mary Ellen (Lee) Wheeler, Naples, FL; James (Margaret) Sankovitz, Shorewood, WI; and the late Thomas George Sankovitz. Numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, and grand nephews and nieces. Ordained priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, on May 31, 1947. Graduate studies at the University of Minnesota, the Catholic University of America and the North American College, Rome. Served as an assistant pastor to the Cathedral of St. Paul and pastor of the Church of St. Dominic, Northfield, MN. Also a former faculty member (later rector) at Nazareth Hall Minor Seminary, the St. Paul Major Seminary and the University of St. Thomas. Named a Domestic Prelate in 1962. Memorials to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis for the support of seminarians studying for the priesthood. Family expresses gratitude to Cerenity Marian Center of St. Paul, especially to 3rd Floor caregivers Bobbi, Carlotta, Rita and Sally as well as Deacon Don.
