David William Montano passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018. He was also known as 'Big Dave or Dave' to many friends. He was born July 14, 1951 in Santa Barbara, and passed away in Los Angeles. He had heart valve replacement surgery at CMH in Ventura in May of 2017. He underwent a second heart valve replacement at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles in October of 2017 and died of complications. He is survived by his sisters Deborah Montano Blair of Sacramento, and Donna Montano Tobin (John) of Santa Barbara; niece Jackie Blair of The Netherlands, and nephew Derek Tobin of Goleta; close friends Deborah Grinder, Kris Picard, Ed Lund, John Tyler and Robert Howell, and by family in New Mexico and Massachusetts and many other friends.

David attended Blanche Reynolds Elementary, Cabrillo Junior High, and was a graduate of Ventura High School in 1969. He was a plumber for over forty years in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Camarillo and Ojai. He was a former member of the Ventura Jaycees, and a current member of The Ventura Elks Lodge. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, kayaking, and enjoyed volunteering as a pit master for BBQ's.

He is preceded in death by his Mother Marion Elizabeth (1963,) Brother Dean Charles (1988,) and his Father Carlos Chacon Montano (2014.)

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 4:00 pm at the Ventura Elks Lodge, 2126 Knoll Dr. Ventura, CA 93003. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai.
