knowing wendy for ages and ages, one of the first times we did crafts together was about 1988 or 89. the church had and adult christmas party and wendy and i were responsible for the table decorations. we got together and made 20 or so centerpieces. glued various sizes of pine cones together and placed taper candles in the middle of them. on the night of the party, we proudly sat together and admired our creations as they were auctioned off. when we notice tiny spiders and other 6 legged creatures crawling out of the centerpieces. horrified we just looked at each other and laughed. knowing now what we should have known then, was that we should have heated the pine cones in the oven to kill off any undesirables BEFORE we glued the pine cones.
years later, she and i would be together for vbs crafts. she still said she was the worst for doing this but in my opinion, she was the best. she was extremely organized and knew exactly what should be done. i modeled the craft vbs for spain after her model at hope alliance. she was the best and humblest. i miss you already, my friend.

It was because of Wendy's pure a beautiful spirit that made me feel so welcome at church. We constantly ran into each other outside of church. And when we did, we did! Time disappeared. We would turn chitchat into a visit, talked for an hour straight in the parking lot of the Safeway in Damascus. Always with a smile on her face and always full of grace. I will miss my very dear friend. We shared a lot. A true angel, I shall always carry you in my heart. But, God loved you best!
