Clyde "Skeet" Sappingfield

Clyde "Skeet" Sappingfield, 73, of Ocala, FL, passed away on August 14, 2025, at E.W. and Lucille Cates House. Skeet was born in Terre Haute, IN to Clyde E Sappingfield and Phyllis Johnson on October 2,1951. He went to high school at Gersmeyer Highschool and graduated in 1969. He worked as a groundskeeper for Terre Haute North High School for over 25 years, and he also worked as a parts driver for O'Reilly Auto Parts for over 15 years. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with family, and coaching softball and baseball. He was a member, deacon, trustee, and teacher of Greenwood Baptist Church in Terre Haute, IN. Since moving to Florida, he was an active attendant of Southwest Christian Church in Ocala, FL. Skeet is survived by his wife, Darlene, his daughter, Michelle Sandiford (Terre Haute, IN), son Eric Sappingfield (Terre Haute, IN), son Trent Sappingfield (Terre Haute, IN), son Brent Sappingfield (Terre Haute, IN), daughter Michelle (Shelly) Poorman [Bluffton, SC], daughter Dora Jenkins (Clinton, IN), and sister Sue Smith (Terre Haute, IN). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother Vincent Sappingfield and his sister Marsha Byers. Funeral service will be held at Roberts of Ocala West Chapel on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2:00PM. Pastor John Scott of Southwest Christian Church will be officiating. Cremation will follow. Roberts of Ocala Funerals and Cremations will be handling the funeral arrangements. A Celebration of Life will happen in Terre Haute, IN at a later date.
