Darryl Fox Obituary

Darryl Henry Fox's story began on April 11, 1957, in Wheeling, West Virginia, where he was born to Henry and Patricia Fox. Raised alongside his siblings Melody and Brad, Darryl grew up spending summers working on the Ohio family farm, where the value of hard work and a deep love for the outdoors first took root. Darryl's energy and enthusiasm were as evident in the classroom as they were in extracurricular life. At Anderson High School in Indiana, he was active in the Choral Club all four years, sang in Swing Choir with his sister Melody, and performed in school musicals such as No, No, Nanette-where he even tap danced-and Oklahoma. He served as Vice President of his junior class, was a member of the Spanish Club, Student Council, and the "A" Club for athletics. On the field and mat, he played varsity football and wrestled. These experiences showcased the leadership, creativity, and determination that would carry through his life. His thirst for knowledge led him to study at Purdue University, Anderson College-where he sang in the Male Chorus with his brother Brad and met his future wife Kathy-and Humboldt State University, where he earned a BS in Cellular Molecular Biology. Later, he completed a Masters in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. Darryl was never content with simply learning for himself: he wanted to build, create, and share. That drive inspired him to found the Artistry Builders, where he poured 39 years of his life into entrepreneurship, blending vision with persistence. Outside of business, Darryl's heart was devoted to service. He traveled to Mexico, Argentina, and Russia on mission trips, building homes for those in need. He served through Alcoholics Anonymous as a sponsor, celebrating nearly 13 years of sobriety, and brought hope to others in recovery through the prison ministry. His work with the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy reflected his lifelong passion for the natural world, whether he was hiking desert trails or exploring new landscapes. Darryl's curiosity was boundless, his spirit adventurous, and his resilience unmatched. He was husband to Kathy for nearly 46 years, father to Jared (Kate) Fox, Tyler (Christine) Fox, Mallory (Brian Thomas) Fox, and Margaux Cavitt, and proud grandfather to Michael, Matthew, Emma, Eden, Calvin, Charlie, and Daniel. He cherished his extended family, including his beloved siblings Melody (Dan) Morrison and Brad (Christy) Fox, nieces Mandy Morrison, Macey Morrison Jones, and Taylor Fox-Chavarin. His in-laws Rick (Kathy) Linamen, Steve (Catherine) Linamen, Lori (Steve) Holmlund, and his many nieces and nephews held a special place in his esteem. Darryl entered into rest on August 9, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Patricia Fox, as well as grandsons Stanton Fox and Samuel Cavitt. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be scattered on a family hike in the Arizona desert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darryl's memory to the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tsai and the caring staff at Honor Health Cancer Care, along with Noble Hospice, for their compassion and dedication.

I sang in AHS Choral Club with Darryl, I went on to Swing Choir and he sang with the Madrigals. He was the most handsome of all the guys in our class of 1975!

So thankful to read of all the ways he served and glorified God. Thank you for sharing that. I´m very sorry for your tremendous loss.
Blessings, Carol Starks Siboni

Darryl was one of those people...i do not know anyone who didn't like Darryl. he was kind and considerate, he tended to think things through and not respond to problems or obstacles harshly. smart and humorous, Darryl was constantly soaking up knowledge.

What a beautiful tribute to a life well lived. My memory is a most recent one, he & Kathy were at Matthew´s High School baseball game, watching him watch Matthew play & seeing how much that brought him.
