Kemilyn Thisdell Obituary
Kemilyn Ann Thisdell, age 64 of Phoenix Arizona passed away peacefully with her loving husband of 45 years by her side on August 13, 2025. She was sent home after a courageous fight with Invasive Malignant Melanoma Cancer.
Kem is survived by her Sister, Cyndi Kilduff; Husband, Michael Thisdell; Daughter, Jenna Platchek and Grandson, Connor Forsythe; Daughter and Spouse, Kara and Andrew Manuel and Grandchildren, Sophia and Violet; Son and Spouse, Matthew and Casandra Thisdell and Grandchildren, Landon and Jesse.
Kem was born November 3, 1960 in Abilene, Texas to Frederick and Virginia Wilson. She grew up in Homewood, IL and Las Cruces, NM. The family then moved and settled down in Phoenix, Arizona where she met the love of her life, Michael Thisdell in 1977. In 1980 they married and began creating what she lived for, 'Family' (to include her friends that were her chosen family).
Kem had a love for cooking and baking, traveling, thrift/antique shopping, trying new restaurants, tie-dyed shirts, playing cards, watching Hallmark, decorating, or enjoying her rambunctious four-legged children. But nothing came close to the love she had for spending time with family and friends. Whether it be at home, over a mocha or lunch, or one of her long phone conversations, she enjoyed each and every occasion with you. She never forgot anyone, always caring for those before herself; which seemed to be her motto.
She instantly became a friend to everyone she met. She was thoughtful, caring, loving, funny and such storyteller! She was the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, or friend you could ask for. But, most of all, a wonderful Grandmother. Known to her grandkids as Grandma, Gramcracker, Grandma Ganache, and WGG - World's Greatest Grandmother.
She made an imprint on our lives that we are all so thankful for. She will be missed every day. But her family has comfort knowing that she is no longer in pain and has reunited with loved ones we have missed dearly. Heaven is lucky to have received a new special angel.
Services are delayed until later this year. Family members will reach out once arrangements have been made.
