Linda Austin Obituary
Linda Ann Austin (Maiden name: Laursen), age 84, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona. Born on February 6, 1941, in Bend, Oregon, Linda lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering devotion to her family, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone she met.
From an early age, Linda felt the presence of Jesus Christ in her life. At just six years old, she knew that Jesus loved her-a truth that became the foundation of her life. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ and God the Eternal Father guided her every step. She strived daily to follow the commandments and live as Jesus would. A deeply spiritual woman, Linda was known for her forgiving heart and loving nature. She constantly sought to better herself and uplift those around her.
Linda's warmth and positivity were infectious. She had a unique ability to make people laugh simply by being herself-no jokes required. Expressive and full of life, she was affectionately known as the "queen of silly." Her sense of humor and light-heartedness brought joy to countless lives.
A devoted wife to Kevan Austin, Linda shared with him a love that was steadfast and eternal. Their bond was one of mutual devotion-a partnership built on trust, respect, and enduring affection.
Linda was also a dedicated mother to her three daughters and two sons: Bradley Davis, Tammy Thompson, Darla Prater, Glenda Fisher, and Mark Fisher. She poured her heart into raising them with love and creativity. In her twenties, she became the beloved "block mom," hosting neighborhood parties filled with homemade desserts and sweet treats crafted from scratch. She delighted in doing arts and crafts with her children and created a home filled with laughter and warmth.
Her commitment to family extended beyond motherhood. Linda worked tirelessly-sometimes holding two jobs-to ensure her family's needs were met during difficult times. Though responsibility wasn't something instilled in her as a child, she grew into one of the most responsible women imaginable.
Professionally, Linda found great purpose in teaching young minds. She taught first grade well into her eighties-retiring only at age 80-demonstrating both passion for education and an extraordinary work ethic. Her students benefited not only from her knowledge but also from the kindness and joy she brought into the classroom each day.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Kevan Austin; daughters Tammy Thompson, Darla Prater, and Glenda Fisher; brother Gary Laursen; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy continues through each of them.
She now joins in rest those who passed before her: her sister Roberta Laursen and two sons, Mark Fisher and Bradley Davis.
Linda's life was one of service, laughter, resilience, faith, and love-a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
