Emajoe Abeln Obituary
Emajoe Caroline (Hoffman) Abeln, age 74, of Little Canada, MN passed away on August 4, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. She was born June 18, 1951, in St. Cloud, daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred Hoffman.
Emajoe is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry, of 45 years. She leaves two daughters, Mandi and spouse Joe of Columbia Heights, MN, Valerie of Troy, TN and two stepdaughters, Traci Haugh and spouse Pat of Hudson, WI and Susan Murphy and spouse Sean of New Prague, MN. Additionally, she leaves four granddaughters, Erin, Megan, Maria, Lacie and three grandsons, Zander and partner Chloe Gavin, Oliver and partner Jasmine Kramer, and Cole. She also leaves three great-granddaughters, Braelynn, Milli, and Lily. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara (Hoffman) Moen of Fresno, CA and a brother, Lyle Hoffman of Brooklyn Park, MN. She is adored by many nieces.
She grew up in Columbia Heights, MN and graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1969. Due to her disease, she retired in 2005 from U of M Physicians where she was a Claims Adjuster. They then moved to Memphis, TN where they lived until 2021 when they returned to Minnesota.
Emajoe's family was most important to her. She loved holiday gatherings when everyone would be together. She was a huge Elvis fan. She bought season passes annually to Graceland so she could visit often. Elvis Week was an event which she attended annually. She also was a member of the Mid-South Parkinson's Group and made many lifetime friends there. She co-chaired committees for the group and took her tasks seriously to see that it ran smoothly. Her favorite pastime was shopping. Emajoe had a keen eye for style and always dressed well.
Emajoe will be missed deeply by her family, and by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 4101 Washington St NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421 on September 15, 2025 at 7:00 pm with visitation beginning at 6 pm.
