Anne Gilstrap Obituary

Gilstrap, Anne

Anne Gilstrap, 77, passed away on March 27 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Syracuse, NY, where she developed a passion for and expertise in riding horses. She followed her parents to Chicago where she met the love of her life, Dick, who introduced her to golf. She transitioned her love of horses to golf and, after Dick's retirement and their move to Albuquerque, they joined Four Hills Country Club, now Canyon Club.

Anne was involved in many golf tournaments winning three President's Trophy Runner Up Awards and Club Champion Runner Up Award in Illinois as well as Four Hills Country Club Couples Championship Low Net Winner 1993. She was also an officer in the Supper Rock Neighborhood Association.

Anne worked primarily as a legal secretary and administrator finally retiring and devoting more time to her favorite pastime, golf. She was also an avid sports fan supporting the Lobos and her Cubs, among others. She was thrilled to see the Cubs win the World Series, an event she wasn't sure would happen in her lifetime.

After Dick's passing, Anne's health declined and she shifted her focus to playing bridge. Anne loved all animals, but especially her cats. Anne was a good friend to too many people to mention. Her extended family and many friends will miss her smile, her sense of humor and her passion for sports. Go Cubs!

Anne is survived by her nephew John and nieces Ethel, Karen and Kathy. Her ashes will be interred with Dick's at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
