Emilio Tapia, 72, Passes Away Peacefully

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emilio Tapia Jr., age 72, who passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, with his loving wife Kim by his side. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Emilio touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and humor.

Born on February 14, 1952, Emilio grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he developed lifelong passions for work, family, and outdoor activities. He graduated from West Mesa High School and spent his career as a programmer and project manager with Intel, where he made lasting contributions and formed many cherished friendships. He married his wife Kim in 1997 and together they shared 27 wonderful years of marriage.

In his free time, Emilio enjoyed spending time elk and deer hunting, as well as fishing. Emilio could often be found working on projects at his Corrales home or in Cuba, New Mexico enjoying the outdoors with his wife, children, grandkids, family, and friends. He was known for his quick wit and sound advice and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Emilio was a devoted family man who always placed his loved ones first. His family will remember him for his unwavering support, and the joy he brought into their lives.

Emilio was preceded in death by his father Emilio Tapia Sr., mother Rose Tudesque, stepmother Emma Tapia and brother-in-law George Maestas.

Emilio is survived by his loving wife, Kim Tapia; three daughters: Sophia Cordova and husband Adrian Cordova, Yvette Tapia, and Christina Silos; Stepson Joseph Dorrell; four grandchildren: Latisha Dorsey and Husband Mykel Dorsey, Monique Cordova, Elenna Silos and Alleah Silos; two great-grandchildren: Jordan Dorsey and McKenna Dorsey; three sisters, Lillian Maestas, Ruby Tapia, and Deanna Tapia-King and husband Greg King; two brothers: Andy Rivera, and Chris Tapia and wife Danielle Tapia. Emilio leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

A memorial service will be held at Garcia's Mortuary on October 24th, 2024 at 10:30 to celebrate Emilio's life. Flowers may be sent to Garcia's to arrive the day before the service. Pallbearers honored to escort Emilio are Chris Tapia, Andy Rivera, Joseph Dorrell, Eric Maestas, Steven Maestas and Adrian Cordova.
