Martin Molecke Obituary

Dr. Martin Molecke

Dr. Martin

Molecke was a man of goodness and integrity. He loved many people and was much loved in return. Marty was a man of wide interests: he was a scientist, a world traveller, a stained-glass artist, a BBQ connoisseur, and a family man. He loved his friends, his pets, many forms of art, and a good fart joke. Marty got his start in Cleveland, OH., where he was born, met the love of his life, Connie, and started his education. He collected many degrees, including a BA from Bowling Green State University, and a PhD from Carnegie Mellon. He was recruited by Sandia National Laboratories in 1976 and spent 32 years there, serving as a Principle Investigator on the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and Spent Fuel Sabotage-Aerosol Ratio test programs, and a key member of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Work was important to him, but his family was even more so; he was an excellent father who delighted in camping trips, birthday parties, and Boy Scout activities. When his sons, Greg and Ryan, earned their doctorates, he cried with joy. He lives on in his wife, Connie Molecke; son, Greg; daughter-in-law, Lesley Molecke; and granddaughters, Tigerlily Miriam Molecke and Rose Ruby Molecke; son, Ryan Molecke; sister, Sandra Molecke Davis (Shelly); sisters-in-law. Christine Hatch Posin (Tom), Cynthia GH King (Gale); brother, Fred Hatch (Maureen); and sister, Sarah Hatch Knaub (Jon); as well as nephews and nieces, Mike and Terri Davis, Ricki and Neal Gafter, Pam and Rick Squillari, Mike and Dionna Hatch, Gloria Hatch, David and Poala Robinson, Brett Jordan, Julia and Daniel Klein, Peter and Jenna Mueller, Erik Mueller, Kai, Paxton, Mateo and River Knaub; mother-in-law, Betty Hatch; and many great nephews and nieces.

His life will be honored in a Celebration of Life soon.

Martin Molecke was a man of goodness and integrity. He loved many people and was much loved in return.

We will miss him.
