Roger Bowman Obituary
Roger D. Bowman
Roger D. Bowman of Albuquerque, Age 68, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2025 with his best friend by his side.
Roger was born on April 28th, 1956 in Fairbanks, Alaska to Patricia Ann (Stott) Bowman and Roger Duane Bowman. He is survived by his sister, Marsha Waller (John) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; with nieces and nephews, Kenneth Waller, Kristal Meeker, Charity Zellmer, and Patrick Waller.
Roger's quick wit revealed his insight and intelligence. Anyone who knew him well sensed that his heart was always in the right place. He ached for the disadvantaged to whom he was sensitive and charitable, and his love of cats was the essence of his entire life. With his fierce imagination and skill as a writer, he could have been successful writing fantastic tales of wizards and dragons and much more. Maybe he would even include some cats, too.
His friends enjoyed his texts, laced as they were with his humor and his unique sauce. His home was delightful and showed his good taste with many fine examples of Native American art, along with the carefully curated remains of his many furry friends. He was a friendly, kind, and quiet neighbor, the sort anyone would want. Flashes of anguish showed on the faces of his neighbors when they learned of his fate.
As an honorable man, Roger was always good for his word and he cared about the truth. He was a natural leader which was obvious to his commanders in the US Army where he received numerous medals and many glowing commendations. To put such service into perspective, at his NATO detachment in Germany, his team manned a radio transmitter which if turned on in case of hostilities would have invited death by the Russians in just a few minutes.
After 13 years in the Army, he had a brief stint as a dispatcher for the NM State Police in Santa Fe. In his subsequent, long career as a technician, manager, and data analyst for the communications industry in New Mexico and nationwide, he again won awards and commendations for his leadership and high performance while gaining the respect of those both above and below him in any organization of which he was a part.
Roger was laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
His family and friends are saddened by his passing. Roger mattered in this world, the spirit of which is now diminished. He was a good friend, and a good man with a good heart. We miss him. God Bless Roger.
We would like to thank the kind and wonderful people at Bosque Trails Hospice and Trujillo Family Funeral Home for their care and compassion throughout a difficult time.
