William Camp Obituary

William (Bill) Camp

William C. Camp (Bill) passed

away on March 19, 2022, at the age of 76. Bill was born February 20, 1946, in Chicago, IL to Edgar and Lillian Camp. He had one sister, Diane Doster Camp. His family moved to Albuquerque, NM when Bill was nine. Bill received his BSME and MBA from the University of New Mexico. He was a founder of the UNM chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda (AKL) in 1965, and later became the fraternity's president. Bill's career encompassed engineering, financial management, and executive positions in financial management and CEO of scientific and medical research. Bill served in the Army Reserves from 1968 to 1985, starting as a Private and attaining the rank of Major. Bill was very civic minded, and he served on the boards of several nonprofit civic groups including the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. Bill founded and owned the Soup 'r Salad Restaurant on Central Avenue in downtown Albuquerque that served the business community. As an extension of his civic concerns, he ran for and was elected as a New Mexico State Representative for two terms from 1984 to 1988. His financial knowledge and leadership were important in crafting the state's financial plan. He sponsored and passed three laws that significantly improved the state's investment income. Bill married the love of his life, Linda Bobier on November 27, 1985. Bill and Linda were married for 36 wonderful years, and they enjoyed traveling the

world together.

Bill and Linda did not have children, but they always had dogs. They mostly had Toy Poodles, but early on there was a German Shepherd and a Schnauzer. Bill said all their "four legged" children were the most intelligent, best behaved, and cutest dogs ever. Bill and Linda moved to Scottsdale, AZ in December 2001. Ten years later, in March of 2011, Bill was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. On July 20, 2016, Bill had a double lung transplant at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. As a double lung recipient, Bill lived nearly another 6 years. At church he was called the "Miracle Man!" Bill had a wonderful sense of humor. He acknowledged that his wife and friends were the most important part of his life.

Visitation will be held on April 29th, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Messenger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale AZ 85255. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 30th, at 11:00 AM at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, 25150 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale AZ 85255. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Norton Thoracic Institute.

May you rest in peace Bill. You were one of the best bosses I have ever had. Your sense of humor was by far what kept you young at heart and always a pleasure to be around every day we showed up to work. I am so sorry that we did not get to do that lunch we talked about. See you on the other side. Linda, my thoughts and prayers are with you as well. What a rough few years you have had, and I know how much you and Bill loved each other. He will be missed for sure.

I was just notified of Bill's passing by a mutual friend.
Bill and I were schoolmates in Albuquerque...Zia, Jefferson & Highland and were in the same Boy Scout troop.
What a fine life he led. So Long Bill.

Linda, sending you our prayers. May you be comforted by all the love you two shared.
Bill was an amazing boss for me at SEA. He set me up for over 30 years in the industry knowing that you have to laugh and enjoy your team as well as find balance in your life. His laugh will always be in my ear! Much love.
