A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Youngsville on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM for Inez L. Barras, age 92, who passed away in Lafayette on November 10, 2022 with her family by her side. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's Southside Location. The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin and Castile's Southside location on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia, LA. Reverend Michael Russo, will officiate at the services. Lectors for the Mass will be, Kristen Barras and Dr. Lisa Broussard. Left behind to cherish her memory include her children, son, Kenneth Barras and wife Karen of Lexington, KY; daughters, Julaine Coco and husband Scott of Youngsville and Suellyn (Susie) Crouch and husband David of Lafayette; her special niece, Dr. Lisa Potier Broussard of Broussard. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Blake Barras, Plantation, FL., Jeffrey Barras and his wife Ana of Walker, LA, Jennifer Barras Kerne and her husband Robert, of Hammond, LA, and James (Jaimie) Barras and wife Angelique, of Pontchatoula, LA., Katherine Barras Clark and her husband, Donnie, Kenneth Barras, Jr. and his wife Heather, and Kristen Barras, all of Lexington, KY. She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren. A native of St. Martinville, she was the fourth child in a family of eight children. She was the last remaining survivor of her siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberie Barras, Jr. "TB", son, Albert Barras; her parents, Gabriel Latiolais Sr. and Josephine Boudreaux Latiolais; four brothers, Murphy, Louis, John and Gabriel Latiolais, Jr.; three sisters, Lou Anna Latiolais Potier, Agatha Latiolais Frederick and Rosa Mae Latiolais Guidry, and son-in-law, Jack E. Allen. She retired in 1995 having worked for the Singer Sewing Center in Lafayette for 28 years. Although she resided in Lafayette at the time of her death, she lived in New Iberia for 54 years and she and TB raised their family there. She remained active in retirement through the senior programs in New Iberia and Lafayette. She was a member of both the Lafayette and the New Iberia Garden Clubs. She was president of the Senior Friends Program from 1996 to 2001. She was also instrumental in the organization of the Boudreaux Family Organization for the Congre Mondial Acadian in 1999. The Boudreaux Family Organization has remained organized, where she served as the French Immersion coordinator. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, line-dancing, bowling and playing Bourree with her friends. She participated in the Senior Olympics for many years and won several medals for her efforts. She traveled extensively after retirement and was grateful that she was able to "travel the world" until her health declined. Because of her infectious smile and outgoing personality, Inez had friends of all ages, and many of those referred to her affectionately as "Mom". Pallbearers will be Kenneth Barras Sr., Blake Barras, Kenneth Barras Jr., Martin Potier, Jake Broussard and Jonah Broussard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Guidry, Gerald Champagne, Bill Stansbury, Fred Latiolais, Chris Broussard, Scott Coco and David Crouch. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Hospice of Acadiana, especially Lindsey, Alyssa, Vivian, and Melissa, and her sitters Shaley and Ladayshea and the staff of Calcutta House who took such good care of her in the last months of her life. Also, a special thanks to her former physician and family friend, Dr. Augustino Ingraldi.
