My wife and I were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Al. We've known Al and Joan for many years, starting with the years he was pastor of the Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene here in Anchorage. We've been in their homes over the years and enjoyed their friendship and love. We were privileged to have met both their children, but knew Lynne better. Its been awhile since we've seen the family, but we will forever cherish the impact their parents had on our lives and family. I will always remember the last time we visited with Al and Joan - it was at a "chance" meeting at the Palmer Carrs Center - we took them out for dinner and had a good visit. We will look forward to "seeing" Al and Joan in Heaven. I know that Heaven is a "happier" place now that Al is up there with his beloved Joan, surrounded by the Angels. God bless Al, Lynne and their repective families. We would love to hear from Lynne again.

Al was pure gold and his sense of humor was contagious. I knew from work at B & C Supply, he was a great friend and coworker. He had great jokes and stories of all his experiences over the years. I am better for having known him. Goodbye Al, you will be missed. Roy Jensen.

Grandpa always knew how to make people smile. He was the practical joker of the group and an awesome storyteller.
He will be forever missed.

We met Al while visiting daughter and grandchildren in Palmer, AK. We always enjoyed our times with he and Joan. They were such a joy to know. Al had such a great sense of humor and kept us laughing. We will miss him the next time we are in Alaska. We send his family and friends our sympathy and love.

Al, It was truly a pleasure knowing you over the past few years, and I don't often say that about someone, as you well knew I wasn't much of a people person, but you always had a story to tell or an anecdote to share with me. You always took time to listen to what I had to say and you shared countless wisdoms. You will, most certainly, be missed.
Bright blessings to you and yours that are left to carry on.

I have many fond memories of this wonderful man. I was a teenager in the Sitka Church of the Nazarene when he was there. We did a lot of Ham Radio together as well as church things. God gave Rev. Haynes a great sense of humor, that if it was not being expressed at the moment, was always lurking, ready to come alive. My favorite memory was when we decided to move a 50' cedar antenna pole from my house to the parsonage one summer. We somehow managed to get the thick lower part in the back of my father's International Harvester Scout and Rev. Haynes put the thinner part in the end of a wheelbarrow. I drove down the street and he followed behind and we made the 4-5 blocks to the church and up the hill. I also remember well his feeding me fresh pan fried mountain sheep after he returned from a hunting trip. That was the best meat I have ever eaten. He is a real good example to prove that Christians can have fun! I will miss him and just wish I lived closer so that I could visit the family and pay my last respects in person.

My husband and I met Al over 20 years ago through the church of the Nazarene. We have always loved him for his sense of humor and deep love for our Lord. We will truly miss him, but knowing that he is in the Lord's presence warms our hearts. Don and Chris Ballard
