Lorna Emalon Pinson

1933 - 2017

Lorna Emalon Pinson was born on Nov. 16, 1933, to Juana Emalon and Isabelo Pinson in Tuguegarao City at Cagayan, Philippines. She was a lifelong avid photography enthusiast and fishing aficionado. She graduated, on March, 25 1961, from Philippine Dental College and was conferred the Degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine - Cum Laude.
She came to Alaska in 1968, and worked at and retired from the Municipality of Anchorage Health and Human Services. She was one of the founding members, and a lifetime member, of both Filipino Religious Traditions Inc. and Alaska Federation of Filipino Americans (AFFA). She was a fixture of Tudor Road Bingo social scene - her only vice to a fault. She was profoundly generous, with a heart to help relatives as she put many nephew and nieces through college.
Lorna was preceded in death by her lifelong constant companion of 60 years, domestic partner, Narcisa Soriano Babaran. Survived by her stepsister, Norma B. Molina and stepbrother, Isabelo B. Pinson of Tuguegarao City, Philippines; the De la Cruz family of Arizona: Silverio, Caridad, Emma, Victor, Tony, Gil and Benji; the Balagtas family of New York City: Gerry Balagtas and Linn Receno; the Siv's family of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Fay Saturnino of Mt. View, Calif.
She leaves behind her nephew, Isanoel and niece, Esther of Anchorage, Alaska; Evelyn P. Navarro, Mario Pinson and family of Tuguegarao City, Philippines; Lauren Anne and family of Sagamihara-shi, Kanagawa, Japan; and a slew of great-grandnieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration will be held at Cremation Society of Alaska, 7216 Lake Otis Parkway, Anchorage, AK 99507, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Officiating Priest Fr. Luz Flores.
