John Cernac Obituary

John George Cernac of Fort Bragg died March 16, 2016, at Sherwood Oaks Health Center. Born on March 12, 1916 in Fort Bragg, California, to George and Mary Cernac, he was 100 years old. Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Rose Memorial Park.
Mr. Cernac grew up in Fort Bragg and attended Fort Bragg High School. John drove forklift at the Fort Bragg mill for 32 years, retiring in 1978. He was an Army veteran of WWII and belonged to the American Legion. He loved baseball and played for the Fort Bragg Loggers. John had an amazing memory and loved to tell stories about Fort Bragg's history.
Mr. Cernac is survived by his daughter, Kathy Costa; his grandchildren, Justin Costa, Shane Costa and Brandon Costa; seven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Norman Cernac.
John was predeceased by Blanch Burkholder, Carolyn Ciro, Chester Cernac, Alex Cernac and Albert Cernac.
