Delilah Mullins Obituary
Delilah H. "DeeDee" Mullins, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 11, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, DeeDee is the cherished daughter of the late George Hillery and Gladys Hillery. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Gladys "Skelly" Gancarcik, Jules Hillery, Charles "Mickey" Hillery, George "Sonny" Hillery, and Beauregard "Kenny" Hillery.
DeeDee shared 39 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Timothy Mullins, and together, they nurtured a loving family that included five children, Steven Mullins (Kristin), Heather Alder, Desiree Murray (Tony), Michael Mullins, and the late Damon Williams (Jennifer). DeeDee's legacy is carried on by her adoring grandchildren, Devon Murray, Jeremy Murray, Matthew Alder, Jacob Alder, Riley Williams, Shelby Murray, Walker Mullins, Kaitlin Mullins, Willa Murray, and Gianna Chauppette, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Charles Alder and Ayla Murray. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
A proud graduate of Louisiana State University, DeeDee earned her Bachelor's degree in 1969 and dedicated 37 years to shaping young minds as a kindergarten teacher in East Baton Rouge Parish (Parkridge Elementary) and St. Tammany Parish (Bayou Woods Elementary). Her passion for education and helping others extended well beyond the classroom as after she retired, she spent 20 years employed with STARC, where she touched the lives of those around her.
DeeDee was a devout member of the Pearl River Methodist Church, where her faith and fellowship were cornerstones of her life. Her interests were a reflection of her nurturing soul; she found joy in gardening and raising chickens, activities that spoke to her love for nature. DeeDee was a familiar face at Ms. Mary's Slidell Feed & Seed, where she was known for her friendly chats and infectious laughter.
Those who knew DeeDee will remember her for her boundless generosity, her ability to see the good in everyone, and her knack for making the world a brighter place. Her presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of crossing her path, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind. DeeDee's spirit, like the gardens she so tenderly cared for, will continue to bloom in the legacy she leaves behind.
DeeDee's family expresses their sincere appreciation to Ms. Mary's Slidell Feed & Seed for endlessly loving DeeDee and to St. Tammany Hospice for the care they provided.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on August 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Pearl River Methodist Church.
