Doris Crane Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Doris Crane, 88, of Wellington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Snow will be officiating. A private burial will follow the service in Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Mrs. Crane passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy O. Crane; her parents, Rev. George H. Wood and Pearlie Wood; two sisters, Mary McKenzie and Betty Wood; and two brothers, Junior Wood and Leon Wood. Those she leaves behind, to cherish her memory, include her children, Linda (Jimmy) Pittman and Mike (Norma) Crane; her grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Pittman and Bradley Crane; her great-grandchildren, Zelda and Crystabelle Pittman; her brother, Jerry (Faye) Wood; and two sisters-in-law, Pearlie Faye Wood and Sue Wood. Mrs. Crane was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord and Savior. She was a member of the Nazarene church for many years where she taught Sunday School as well as sending out cards to missionaries. She currently attended Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Crane knew what it was to serve others, including her family. She was a devoted Mom, a loving grandmother, and an excellent sister and friend. Mrs. Crane was known for her "famous" chocolate chip cookies, bringing them to family gatherings all around. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her many flowers, and spending time outdoors. As a military wife, Mrs. Crane knew what it was to care for her family, and she made sure they knew how much she loved them. She was an amazing hostess and if you ever visited her, she always made you feel welcome. Mrs. Crane will forever be remembered for her tender heart, her kindness, and her meek and gentle spirit. The family would like to extend a special thanks to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, Comforting Times, and Mrs. Elsie Pilot, for their continued support and care. I'm so sorry and sad to hear of Doris's passing. She was indeed all these wonderful memories you mentioned of her. I was proud to have known her when worshiping and serving at Gadsden First Church of the Nazarene. She was a beautiful soul and a great cook. She was always so sweet, kind and welcoming us into her home. She was a great hostess and a great cook. She was cared for and loved by many including myself. I was truly blessed to have known her and her family. My prayers and condolences are with your family. In Christ love, Sherry Davis
