Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. On July 9, 1949, in Decatur, Alabama, James Wilson Wright and Linnie B. Orr Watkins became the proud parents of a son name James Howard Wright. Only God would know the mission he had planned and the steps he had ordered for James during his seventy -three blessed years of earthly life. James was a selfless man living to please God. As a youth, he attended various churches. After twenty-eight years of knowing and understanding the word of God, James received Christ and was filled with the Holy Ghost, while worshipping with Faith Temple Church of God in Columbus, Georgia. He later returned to Decatur, Alabama continuing to work in the Lord's vineyard and uniting with Pentecostal House of Prayer which is where he met the love of his life and his forever soulmate, the beautiful Ms. Judy Floyd. He knew God had led him on the right path when the two joined hands and were united in Holy Matrimony on March 17, 1984, sharing nearly forty years of a providential marriage with the blessing of two intelligent young sons, Jason and Justin. James became consecrated as a Bishop of God accepting the position as Pastor of Grace Abundant Life for twenty-five years and was recently elevated to Apostle. He loved the Lord and trusted him completely for his daily instructions. There was nothing that could prevent Bishop James Howard Wright from spreading the Word and love of God. He was truly one of God's anointed ones and he will always be remembered as the servant and Man of God that never stopped serving and witnessed the many blessings of God in the lives of his family and ministry. James completed his formal education in the Morgan County School District and later attended Job Corps receiving his Associate Degree in Sociology. At the age of nineteen, James left home to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army for twenty years and thirty days, then retiring at the age of thirty-nine. James primary specialty for over nine years was Chemical Operations Specialist and for more than seventeen years, he was a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. While serving his country, James was stationed in Thailand and Germany receiving numerous medals, badges, citations, decorations, and awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and Army Achievement Medal before retiring as Sergeant First Class to civilian life to continue enjoying his beautiful family, vacationing, creating and making memories that will last a lifetime. Not only did he enjoy his family and working in the Lord's vineyard, James also found peace and relaxation in listening to a little jazz; however, if you wanted a down home good meal, James was the chef. He loved cooking as much as he did working for the Lord. We will always remember that bright smile, his caring heart, and the warm embracing he gave us. His enduring and unconditional love will forever live in our hearts and always be remembered because there will never be another Sergeant First Class Bishop James Howard Wright. There is no doubt the legacy of this servant of God has followed him to his Heavenly home. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 30, 2022, after answering the final call of his Master, Sergeant First Class Bishop James Howard Wright made his triumphant transition to Heaven while in the care of Regional Medical Center. Rejoicing with the angels at his arrival were his parents, James Wright and Linnie Watkins. Left to cherish James' legacy of love and precious memories is his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Judy Floyd Wright; four sons, Jason H. Wright, Justin H. Wright, James R. Wright, and Theodore D. Lockett; a bonus daughter, Kenesha Allen; two brothers, Minister Ronald (Saundra) Scott and Bishop Herman Wright; three sisters, Deborah Reynolds, Carlotta Williams, and Tara Wright; six sisters-in-law, Hazel (John) Toyer, Phyllis (Herbert) Rowser, Belinda Floyd, Vicky Hamilton, Pamela Gilchrist, and Gilda (Bob) Clayton; one brother-in-law, Vann Floyd; an entire village of extended spiritual family far and near; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Apostle, Bishop, DJ, Husband, Father, Uncle, Friend...and so on with the titles that you have worn while here on Earth. You have now solidified all that is worth doing for God and He has an even better/greater name for you. To you, Sir...I say thank you!!! Thank you for the encouragement and strength you have provided so many. I know we will all miss your thoughts from just slightly in the background during our Round Table discussions. Again, I say THANK YOU!!!
