Jason Robinette Obituary

Jason Donald Robinett, 45, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, after a brief illness. A 1989 graduate of Oxford High, Jason attended Gadsden State on a music scholarship and was a proud member of the Show Band under the direction of Rip Reagan. A professional drummer since age 18, Jason was fortunate enough to have played with many talented musicians over the years, too numerous to mention. He was a loving husband and father, and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donette Geier; brother, Jeremy Walker; mother-in-law, Carol Pointer and chosen brother, Danny Lackey. Survivors include his wife, Lorinda; sons, Brendan Cullen and Griffin Ridlespurge; brother, Shane Robinett; sister, Kristie Walker Fry; father, Rick Walker; adoptive father, Dennis Robinett; grandparents, Donald and Doris Geier; uncle, Donnie Geier, and several cousins. Jason's family is overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from those who knew him. A celebration of life is being planned and arrangements will be announced at a later date. The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made to your local high school band department or the Humane Society of Etowah County. "Some are bound to die young. By dying young a person stays young in people's memory. If he burns brightly before he dies, his brightness shines for all time."

Jason was a fine young man. We were in the GSCC Show band together and I always remembered he smiled and laughed a lot. GREAT DRUMMER! He was a great friend to me and a lot of fun to be around. Although I haven't seen him since we left college, he would cross my mind from time to time. Glad to know he had a great wife and family. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. May you feel God's presence and holding you in his arms during this time of grief.
