Thomas Badgett Obituary
Thomas G. W. Badgett was born to Della Champion Badgett and Charles Freeman Badgett on November 16, 1933, one and one-half miles north of White Plains, AL. He was reared from the age of 5 in and with The Saks community. He was schooled at Saks Junior High and at Alexandria High Schools. He was a life-long resident of Calhoun County. Thomas was employed with the Calhoun County Road Department in the SACP (Road-building) program. He also worked with Engineering and Machine Operator- Ed McGinnis (Street building contracting) as a Machine Operator. Additionally, he worked with General Electric Tube Company as a Service Operator. Thomas served The Anniston Water and Sewer Board for thirty-nine and one-half years as Plant Operator; Water Construction Assistant Supervisor and Machine Operator; Water, Sewer, Construction and Maintenance Supervisor; and then as General Superintendent. Thomas is proceeded in death by his parents; his first wife, and the mother of his children, Betty Parris Badgett; a son, Brian Badgett; a grandson, Cody Benefield; a great grandson, Trenton Medders; and a son-in-law, Rev. Ritchie Franklin. Thomas is survived by his wife, Lorena B. Badgett; daughters, Freida (Ted) Cromer and Iris Badgett; a son, Jeff (Juanita) Badgett; a daughter-in-law, Tonya Badgett; and stepchildren, David (Anna) Daniels and Rheana D. Franklin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Keri (Neal) McGinnis, Jonn Medders, Julia Badgett, Jillian Badgett, Dana (Jacob) Grady, Jenna (Jonathan) Arnold, Chase (Laura) Franklin, Christian (Seth) Dunlap, Stone Franklin and Brighton Franklin and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and family man, a dependable worker, a loyal friend and a dedicated Christian who will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express thanks to the special nurse Tammy with Enhabit Hospice and special nurse Brandy with Enhabit Home Health for providing excellent care. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 1:00 to 2:00pm with a memorial service following at 2:00pm at The Jacksonville Church of God on Francis St. Rev.
