Barbara Skinner Obituary

Barbara J. Skinner

Brick - Barbara J. Skinner, 86, a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore received her wings peacefully at home Thursday, March 18, 2021. She was born on February 26, 1935, at home in Brick, NJ. She was the daughter of Raymond and Eleanor Hulse.

Barbara graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School and to this day she looked forward to her monthly "Class of 53 Breakfast Club" where she enjoyed spending time with her former classmates and friends.

She retired after 39 years with the Department of Defense at Fort Monmouth Army Base as a purchaser for military equipment for the soldiers on the ground.

She married the love of her life Hugh Raymond Skinner of Missouri. A member of the VFW Ladies Aux 2179, NARFE Chapter 0637, and the Brick Township Historical Society. Barbara enjoyed the simple pleasures of life especially spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents Ray and Eleanor Hulse, she was predeceased by her husband Hugh Raymond Skinner and sister-in-law Kim Hulse.

Barbara is survived by her four sons Michael and his wife Lisa of Lakewood, Craig of Louisville, KY, John of Brick, and Robert of Monmouth Beach, MA. Nine Grandchildren Sarah, Amanda, Craig, Emma, Brianna, John, Cole, Alyssia, and Robert. Her brother Raymond Hulse of Brick, and sisters Kathy & her husband Gene Applegate of Brick, Diane & her husband Richard Mauro of Berwick, PA. Many nieces & nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held 3:00 pm- 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 24, at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home of Brick, NJ. Interment will be held, Thursday, March 25, at 1:30 pm at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Barbara was a very nice lady. My sister Lisa is married to her son Mike. She was always warm and friendly to our family. A lively woman that looked years younger than she was. When ever I visited NJ - it was a joy to watch her interact with her grand daughter Sarah. I know that she will be greatly missed. My prayers are with the family.

My sister Shirley and I used to play with Barbara and "Brother" when we were kids. We swam in the Metedeconk River at my Aunt Elearnor's (Barbara's Mother). We were all very young and in the summer we were living the carefree life in the good old days at the River. Memories!!!
