Brian Riddle Obituary

Brian Ronald Riddle

Little Silver - Brian Ronald Riddle, 52, of Little Silver, N.J, passed away on June 7th, 2021, at Monmouth Medical Center. Born in Red Bank, N.J, he was a proud native and resident of the Jersey Shore for his entire life. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1987 and will forever be a Colt. A talented athlete, he was inducted into the CBA Hall of Fame for his contributions to the 1985 state championship golf team. He earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Mount Saint Mary's in Emmitsburg, Maryland, in 1991, where he made many lifelong friends and was an honorary patron of the OTT House.

Brian had a tremendously successful 30-year career on Wall Street, beginning as a utility trader at NatWest Bank. He worked for various firms in many different capacities. Most recently, he was employed by Citibank as head of North American Cash Equity Block Trading.

Brian had a lifelong passion for golf, beginning at Spring Lake Golf Course where he played with his father. He traveled extensively and played at top tier golf courses around the US. He could most often be found on the links at Rumson Country Club working on his handicap with many of his golfing buddies. Brian was known to talk about his greatness on hole 17, with 2 hole-in ones. He was also a member of Monmouth Beach Bath and Tennis Club where he enjoyed surfcasting.

Brian was not only loved by his family, but also by his many friends. He made friends wherever he went, and they usually became lifelong pals. He loved to hold court, offer a "How ya doing," and never failed to make everyone's day a little bit better. Brian was full of life, with a smile that lit up the room. He will be deeply missed by so many.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Ronald P. Riddle, and his brother, Craig P. Riddle. Brian and Anne Riddle were married on May 6th, 1995, and together they raised five children whom he adored and who survive him: Molly, Lizzie, Katie, Patrick, and Teddy. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia, his sister, Doreen, his father-in-law, Norman R Harvey, his sister-in-law, Lauren, his nephews, Ryan and Connor, his niece Colleen, and his aunts, Phyllis and Barbara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12th, at the Church of Nativity, Fair Haven, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, N.J. 07738, where a scholarship is being established in his name. Thompson Memorial Home in Red Bank has been entrusted with the arrangements.

So many of my CBA memories would not be complete without Brian in the starring role. He always brought a smile to everyone's face, and lifted the room with his laughter. I feel very fortunate to have counted Brian as a friend. Thoughts & prayers to the Riddle family.

Godspeed, Mr. Riddle. The rooms of Rumson Country Club will never be as bright as they were when you strode through them spreading your light and good cheer. You certainly cheered ME up on more than a few occasions and never failed to bring a smile to my face. You are already sorely missed by those who were lucky enough to know you. My sincere condolences to all of the Riddle family.

My deepest sympathies to Anne and the kids, Mrs. Riddle, and Doreen. Brian and I had so many fun times together at CBA and after high school -- and always with lots of laughter. He was also kind and generous to me whenever I needed a pick-me-up. He was a true gift to my life -- perhaps more than I realized until now. I only have fond memories of Brian, and he still makes me laugh and smile when I look back at our friendship. He is already greatly missed. Here's a photo of Brian and Brother Adrian from our senior year at CBA in 1987.
