Clifton Hocutt Obituary
AGE: 27 • Neptune
Clifton S. Hocutt, 27, a lifelong resident of Neptune, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013. He was an assistant manager at the Association for Multiple Impairment in Brick for the past year. A graduate of Neptune High School, he won the John Tuggle Memorial Award, the 32nd annual Vince Lombardi Award and the Senior Achievement in Athletics in 2004.
He was predeceased by his mother, Darlene Hocutt Davis in 1999. He leaves to mourn his passing his father, Clifford Davis; his fiancé, Latoya Hamlin; children, Aniya and Aiden Hocutt; brothers and sisters, Teriek Hocutt, Garrett Crawford, Miesha Hocutt Davis, Gabrielle Lawson and Eliza Fisher; and his loving parents, James and Retha Lawson.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 until his funeral service at 10 a.m. at the Living Word Christian Church, 81 Route 35, Neptune. Burial will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls.

Clifton's mom died when he was young. After that it was like open season. The rest of em sat around, and used em for everything they could get out of em. That's crazy how they did that.

To The Lawson & Hocutt Family,
It is with deep sorrow to hear of the passing of Clifton. When my son, Brandon told me that next morning, I was shocked. However, my thoughts quickly changed to God is still on the throne. I had the pleasure of meeting Clifton, through the Lawson's who were guardians to my son Brandon. I remember his smile and how respectful he was whenever I visited the family to see my son.
You will be missed, however absent from the body, present with The Lord is where you are Clifton.
May The Lord comfort and strengthen both families and that each passing day becomes that much brighter.

Rest in peace Clifton. My condolences to all the family especially you Latoya and the children. I had seen Clifton when I was in New Jersey in February of this year. He had stopped in with his little boy to say Hi as he knew I was moving to Maine. I worked with Clif for a year at a group home. He was a very hard worker and a great person. He was always respectful and polite. He cared very much for the residents.I had invited him and his family to come to Maine to visit. He said he would love to come when he had a vacation coming as he had just started a new job. I am so sad about this tragic accident and the loss of such a great guy. He had such an infectious laugh. You will all be in my prayers as you grieve this tremendous loss. I will miss you Clifton.

This is truly a tragedy and its breaks my heart to see such a great man, father and friend have his life taken from him. We are blessed to have had Hocutt in are lifes which ever way it came. I know and I appreciate the impact he had in my cousins life, Punkie and Clifton where more than just friends they were brothers and couldn't no one tell them otherwise. My condolenses go out to the Hocutt Family and Toya I pray for nothing but the best for you and those beautiful kids, keep God first. R.I.P. Clifton you are greatly missed.

It's the saddest thing having to attend the funeral of one of your peers. My condolences to the family. My 6 year old daughter made friends with this little girl when they were 3 years old in preschool. Like any preschool mom, I did some fishing to find out which relationships would be worth investing in and nurturing. A friendship was built. Much like a seed the relationship grew. Friends in school. Moms and Dads outside chatting, waiting to pick up the children. The seed gets watered as we learn about each other's lives and families, our common joys and struggles. Hugs before holiday breaks and congratulations on pregnancies. This is no longer just about the children. We have invested in each other's lives. 4 years of water and sunshine and care make a beautiful flower. The girls share a friendship in school, and out of school. When your husband has a beer in the garage with your child's friends dad, bonding has taken place. It doesn't have to be a daily conversation, but what is evident is that we share some common ground, and we care about one another. A good man from a good family was taken away from us. The pain that I feel for this tragic loss is unbearable. To Latoya, Aniya, Aiden, family and friends - our deepest sympathies. There are no words. We pray that God will give you strength, comfort and peace that transcends all understanding. Rest in peace, Cliff, in arms of the Savior.

I had the pleasure of working with Cliff when he first started at AMIB. He was a very kind and caring person. He was wonderful with the individuals and co workers in our group home. Everyone loved him. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He will be missed by all.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Cliff at AMIB and he was so amazing with the clients, I can only imagine how terrific he was as a father. He was a proud Dad, always talking about his family....I am terribly sorry for your loss.
