Neptune City - Daniel Charles Popp, 51, of Neptune City , passed away on February 1, with his family by his side, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Dan worked as a chef for Compass Group USA at Monmouth University. Prior to that he worked as a painter for many years. Dan was born and raised in Elizabeth NJ and lived in Springfield and Clark before moving to Neptune City 18 years ago. He graduated form the Pingry School where excelled academically in the classroom and athletically on Football and Lacrosse fields. He graduated from Rutgers University with BS in English. Dan was a multitalented musician , writer , chef and gardener. His life was full of love and music. He loved to host dinner parties and attend concerts. Dan was famous for his 25 year open house on New Years Day.

Dan was predeceased by his father Michael E. Popp and his sister in law Susan Popp. He is survived by his wife Patricia Boffa Popp, his mother Julia Valdes Popp, his 4 sibling and their spouses, Nelson Popp, David and Susan Popp, James and Sharon Popp and Alice and Denton Casey. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Thomas and Pamela Popp, Samantha, Eva and Michael Popp, Emily and Andrew Popp and Ronan and Sylvan Casey.

Visitation will be on Wednesday February 6 from 4 to 7 PM at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 7PM in the funeral home.
