David John Steen

AGE: 43 • Brick

David John Steen, 43, of Brick, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at home. David grew up in Freehold Township. Born in December 1967 and raised a Catholic, Dave attended St. Rose of Lima Elementary School in Freehold and went on to graduate from Freehold Township Regional High School. David excelled in the retail furniture business in Monmouth and Ocean Counties and was recently managing The Furniture Source store in Brick. Dave really loved his work and being a service to others, which showed in his interactions with his customers.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Leonard John Steen, who he greatly admired. Surviving and grieving David are his mother, Toni Saker; sisters, Margaret and Francesca; and brothers, Leonard and Paul. Other family include his nieces, Sara and Sheridan; and nephews, William and Nikolai. Also at loss is very good friend, Janine DiPasquale, who remained a true angel to him even in his passing. There are many others including his supervisor, Nelson and all the co-workers David had the pleasure to know over the years.

David enjoyed downhill skiing, skydiving, snorkeling and was a proficient drummer. He was enjoyed by his family on his visits to the Virgin Islands over the years. Dave loved all animals especially his dogs, Ralphie, RJ and JJ.

David will always be a part of our lives and even in the great sadness of his early death there has been joy. David had that effect on people, everyone who knew him, even in passing, were touched by his spirit. Dave had a smile to share with anyone, even a perfect stranger. David is lovingly missed by all.

Services have been held privately. Memorial donations may be given to San Alfonso Retreat House, Long Branch, NJ.

So very sad to here of David's passing. I lived on his street growing up where I have great memories of him and the big wooded backyard with the zip line and platform swing that kept Avon Drive entertained for much of our childhood. Strength to his family and close friends. Renee (Rosen) Israel
