FLORENCE J. COLLINS
AGE: 77 TOMS RIVER
Florence J. Collins, formerly of North Brunswick, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. She was 77 years old. She was born in New Brunswick and lived in North Brunswick until moving to Toms River in 2000. Florence was a credit manager for Digital Equipment Corp., Piscataway for 20 years before retiring in 1994. At age 50, she graduated from Middlesex County College; and was a member of The National Institute of Credit. She loved cooking, painting and traveling all over the world. She was bilingual, loved to learn and always had a book in her hand.
Florence was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret Palmer; her brother, Edward; and her sister, Margaret. Florence is survived by her partner of 31 years, Manual Hernandez; her sons, William Collins and his companion David Carlucci of Whitehouse Station, and Patrick Collins and his wife Margie of Milltown; her sister, Lillian Dill of Florida; her best friend and niece, Laura Buckley; three grandchildren, Michael, James and Emily; many nieces and nephews; and her cherished cat, Elliot.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave., New Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at the funeral home, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local ASPCA or the Popcorn Zoo, Forked River.
