Gladys Dougherty Tice, 89, of South Amboy died Monday December 29, 2014 at Bayside Manor Assisted Living, Keansburg. Born in South Amboy, she was raised in Bayonne, returning to South Amboy in 1947, living there most of her life. A 1946 graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing, she was employed by St. Francis Hospital, Jersey City as a Registered Nurse for 5 years before becoming a stay at home mother. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the South Amboy Irish American Association and a founding member of the Frog Hollow Swim and Tennis Club.

Daughter of the late Cornelius and Mary Gibbs Dougherty, she is also predeceased by her husband, Vernon F. Tice in 1983. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Tice and his wife, Georgann of Matawan, Thomas Tice of South Amboy, Terrance Tice and his wife, Maureen of New Hope; her daughters, Nancy Tice and her husband, James M. Millan of West Caldwell, and Tracey Cook and her husband, Joseph of Jackson; and 2 granddaughters, Breann Thomas and Katherine Tice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 3, 2015 at 9:45am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8pm.
