Griffin Thoma Obituary
AGE: 17 • Sea Girt
Griffin James Thoma, 17, of Sea Girt passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick with his loving family at his bedside. Griffin was a well-loved and special young man who had a unique impact on the lives of those who had the privilege to know him. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Sea Girt and a student at The Riverview School in East Sandwich, MA. As a resident of Sea Girt, he was a Communicant of St. Mark's Church, Sea Girt.
Griffin is survived by his devoted parents Jim and Laura Thoma, his sister Danielle and his twin brother Charlie, his paternal grandparents Bob and Ann Thoma of Sarasota, Fla. and his maternal grandmother Josie Pitcher of Denville, in addition to his many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom loved him very much.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday April 30, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 9:30am at St. Mark's RC Church, 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt. Please go directly to the Church on Friday morning as there will not be a procession from the Funeral Home. Private Burial will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, Griffin's family requests donations to Embrace Kids Foundation, The Edith & Martin Stein Building of Hope, 121 Somerset St., New Brunswick, NJ 08901. We met your family at RWJ during one of our hospital stays. AJ remembers watching the volcano explode and talking about nerf guns with Griffin. I remember talking with Laura and feeling so comforted by her strength. Thank you for making my son smile and feel normal in his battle against cancer. Fly free Griffin, until we meet again. Your sweet family will stay in our prayers.

To the family of my Good friend Griffin. I was at Auburn dorm with Griffin, he was a good friend to me. I miss him in school, but now his with jesus and having fun in heaven. So sorry to hear about precious Griffin's passing. I was his speech therapist many years ago at SFC (now Hawkswood)and it was always a pleasure to be with him--he always made me laugh, especially when he learned the word "uvula" and he would use it every chance he got! :) May his family find comfort and May he rest peacefully with the angels......Miss Pam
