Jane N. McCormack

AGE: 93 • New Monmouth

Jane N. McCormack, 93, of New Monmouth, farmer and secretary, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015. Born in Keyport in 1921, at the age of four her family moved to a farm in the New Monmouth section of Middletown. Jane was a 1938 graduate of Leonardo High School (Middletown) and subsequently graduated from Drake's Business School in Perth Amboy. Jane married William Roger McCormack in 1940 and moved to his farm, which neighbored her family's farm. She worked side by side farming with him while raising their five children. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Aaron and Jane Ann (Ghent) Nuckle; her brother, Aaron, and sisters, Pearl and Sylvia. She was also predeceased by her husband in 1988 and her eldest daughter, Jane Ann McCormack, a student of Trenton State College, one of eleven killed in the bus and tractor trailer accident of October 9, 1959. She is survived by daughters, Dr. Leah S. McCormack, Ruth M. Hintze, Deborah M. Zink and a son, William H. McCormack and their families. A steward of the land, Jane loved her farm and was at her happiest when working in the greenhouse starting transplants for the summer. It always brought back memories of her childhood working in her parents' greenhouse. She enjoyed managing her roadside stand and conversing with customers. A person of deep faith, she exemplified Christian ideals. She led a life of service to others, was always kind, and donated fruits and vegetables to the needy. Jane will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Route 35 in Middletown. A memorial service will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. In honor of her memory, donations may be made to The Barn for the Poorest of the Poor, 39 Bayberry Lane, Middletown, NJ 07748. Interment at Green Grove Cemetery in Keyport will be private.
