Jean Hecht Obituary
Toms River - Jean Raymond Dietrich Hecht, 95, of Toms River, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Orlando, Florida.
He was born on October 22, 1922 in Lakewood, New Jersey. Jean was a graduate of Toms River High School and attended Georgia Tech University. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and a member of Air Force ROTC. He was called for duty and served honorably in the Air Force in the Second World War.
After the war, Jean worked for the family trucking business. He then became owner of Hecht Trailers LLC. He was Chairman of The Board of Jersey Shore Savings and Loan; the President of Visiting Homemakers Of Ocean County, New Jersey; Rotary District Governor of New Jersey and was instrumental starting Rotary clubs; he was a member of The Elks club. Jean loved traveling in his motor home and visiting National Parks throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his father Jean D Hecht, mother May Hecht, wife Betty Rae Applegate Hecht and daughter in law Patti Vellucci Hecht.
Jean is survived by his daughter Vicki Jean Hecht Boehme and husband Fred, son Michael Hecht, granddaughter Kelli and husband Brian Eberhardt, two Great Grandchildren Noah and Lily, many nieces & nephews and his companion Carolyn Hoglan.
A memorial will be held at a later date.

I live in Georgia and just learned of Jean's passing. My husband, Peter, was one of the "Unholy Five" a group that formed in Toms River after WWII. Jean, Harry Duckworth, Ham Price, Dick Davis and Peter Fancher had many good times together as they adjusted to civilian life in 1945. I remember Jean fondly and also Betty Rae, who was in my high school class. My sympathy to the family at your loss. Eileen Olsen Fancher

Jean Hecht was a warm, generous and fun soul. He and his late, wife Betty Rae, were members with my parents in the North Shore Antique Auto Club. As a young child, I adored Jean and Betty Rae. They were among my favorite club members - always so kind to me and fun to be around.
They hoid a special place in my heart. May God bless them. My deepest condolences to the Hecht family.
