Joseph Shaw Obituary
AGE: 79 • formerly of Holmdel
Joseph William Shaw, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Braddock, PA and was a lifelong Steelers fan. He recently relocated to Brentwood, TN after living in Holmdel, NJ for the previous 20 years.
He is survived by the true love of his life and beautiful wife of 57 years, Colleen Marie Shaw as well as his six devoted children, Linda A. Vazquez, Joseph W. Shaw Jr., Gary A. Shaw, Robert H. Shaw, Michael E. Shaw, Laurie A. McGrory and 21 grandchildren that will truly miss the love and warmth of their "Pap Pap."
He graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and earned his Executive MBA from Harvard University. He was in the ROTC program while pursuing his undergraduate degree and also spent 4 years after graduation as a navigator in the United States Air Force. He had a very distinguished and successful career at AMAX Specialty Metals and Dow Chemical and retired from Dow as VP of Finance in 1995. He was a member and usher at St. Catharine's Parish in Holmdel, NJ.
As per his wishes, there was a private family ceremony at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, TN. A funeral mass will be held at 9:15 a.m. on February 2nd at St. Catharine's Church in Holmdel, NJ. In lieu of flowers, Joseph has requested that those wishing to remember him, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

I've been wondering about Joe and Colleen for several years, and recently tried to find out his whereabouts through the internet. I'm very sorry to hear about his passing and offer my sincere condolences to Colleen and his family. We were like brothers during our growing up years in Braddock. In fact, we lived next door to each other until graduation from grade school. Joe was my best man at our wedding. It's too bad we lost contact many years ago after regular exchanges of cards at the holidays. I hope this message finds Colleen in good health. Unfortunately, my wife Regina passed away just two months ago. I still live in the Pittsburgh area and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
