Joseph Tuohy Obituary
AGE: 43 • Manahawkin
Joseph T. Tuohy, 43, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed on May 29, 2015 in Manahawkin, NJ. He was born in Red Bank, NJ grew up in Union Beach, and lived in several Monmouth County towns. Joseph retired from a dedicated 20 year career in Law Enforcement, having worked as a Corrections Officer for Monmouth County, as a Patrolman for Holmdel Police Dept, and as a Sheriff's Officer for Monmouth County. In his earlier years, he pioneered the Union Beach Police Explorer program as well as volunteered and held rank in the Middletown Police Explorer Post 102. He was a communicant of St Mary's of the Pines R.C. Church in Manahawkin, NJ.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Jacqueline Hines Tuohy and their children, Sean and Hailey Tuohy of Manahawkin, NJ; his mother Catherine Barrett Tuohy & sister Katie Tuohy of Whiting, NJ; and his innumerable "Brothers & Sisters in Blue". Joseph's passing was preceded by that of his father, Joseph R Tuohy in 2003.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:30 am at St Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd. New Monmouth, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in to a college fund for his children, to be established in the very near future. Joe, your kindness and dedication will be missed. You always defended what you believed in, even in circumstances of extreme adversity. You had an old fashioned, yet wholesome approach. I worked with Joe for a number of yrs. I knew him in and out of work. He was a friend and a solid, decent man.
I haven't seen or talked to Joe in a few yrs, but hearing of his passing has not lessened its heart felt impact.

I am so sorry. Joe was one of the good guys. As neighbors back in the 80's we played wiffle ball for hours. He played by the rules and that continued into adulthood. Joe has a humble way about him that is rare. Joe you are missed and my heart hurts with your passing.
