Karen Bork Obituary
AGE: 68 • Brick
Karen E. Bork (formerly Karen Cichy), 68, of Brick, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Ms. Bork was a Registered Dental Assistant in the 1970's and early 1980's. She became a Home Health Aide for Visiting Home Care Services in Ocean County in Toms River before retiring in 1998. She was a 1964 graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School. Born in Orange, NJ, She relocated to the Jersey Shore in 1961. She lived in Point Pleasant and Brick.
Ms. Bork was preceded in death by her parents William Bork and Helen Geffinger and by her sister Janet Dewar. Surviving are her two daughters Alison B. Griffin of Bayville, Kristen L. Bergen and her husband Kurt Bergen of Point Pleasant; two brothers William J. Bork and his wife Sandy Bork of Wyomissing, PA, Robert L. Bork and his wife Judy Bork of Houston, TX; five grandchildren Chelsea, Edward, Alexander, Alyssa and Jacob; as well as her two beloved cats Millie and Abby.
Visiting will be on Monday from 3-6pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. The service will be held also on Monday at 6pm in the funeral home. Final interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family will be setting up a trust fund for Ms. Bork's cats, Millie and Abby to be cared for in "Kitty City" at Popcorn Park Zoo to live out their lives.
