Aileen Stevens Obituary

Aileen Buoy Stevens, 92, of Browns Valley died May 3, 2008, at Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

Born in Delano, she was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 63 years.

She was the head of the English department at Marysville High School for many years, retiring from the Marysville Joint Unified School District in 1980.

She received a bachelor's degree in English and Latin from the University of the Pacific in 1939 and a master's degree in education from California State University, Sacramento in 1975.

Past president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, she also was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Literary Guild, the League of Women Voters, Loma Rica Grange, Cowbelles, Retired Teacher's Association and Loma Rica Lionesses.

In addition, she was a member of the Crazy Kromos, later the Marysville Art Club; and Every Second Sunday Bloody Mary Group, later the Bangor Brunch Bunch.

Survivors include three daughters, Eleanor Wreyford of Browns Valley and Peggy Stevens and Wanda Skeffington, both of Loma Rica; two sons, Terrance Stevens of Browns Valley and James Stevens of El Dorado Hills; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James M. Stevens.

Services: A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 800 D St., Marysville, followed by a graveside ceremony at Peoria Cemetery on Marysville Road in Browns Valley. Refreshments follow at the Stevens home, 6277 Marysville Road, Browns Valley. Arrangements are under the direction of Lipp and Sullivan Chapel in Marysville.
