Steve Whatley Obituary

Steve Whatley, passed away February 1, 2023, at his home in Yuba City, CA, after a long battle with cancer. Steve was born June 8, 1957, to parents, Mary and Wayne Whatley of El Sobrante, CA.

Steve was a graduate of De Anza high school of El Sobrante CA, where he played football and made many friends. He was a diehard fan of the Raiders, and remained so throughout his life. His love of bad ass vehicles is why he became a member of the Step Side club along with his buddies from school.

After graduation his parents retired and Steve took over their company and they all moved North where he continued to run the company for another 20 years when he retired himself.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Lance Whatley of Yuba City, CA; parents, Mary and Wayne Whatley of El Sobrante, CA; sister, Teresa Whatley Hernandez of Yuba City, CA; and niece, Brooke Meyers of Yuba City.

Steve leaves behind his partner of over 20 years, Julie Robinson of Yuba City, CA; son, Lexington and his wife Messina Whatley of Plymouth CA; sister, Patricia Whatley Meyers; niece, Ivory and spouse Brandon Tibbetts; and great-niece, Skylar Pixley, all of the Yuba - Sutter area.

Back in the late 70's Paul Draper, Jerry Hall, Tim Kinder, Brian Gilbert, Jimmy DelGado, Steve, & A few others all had Chevy stepside pick-up's, including myself. We called ourselves North Bay Stepsides. We weren't organized, didn't have meetings, we just hung out together had party's at the Rollingwood house. Brian has already passed so Steve will have a friend when he gets to where he's going. We will miss you my friend.
