Lillian SPARKES Obituary

SPARKES, Lillian Victoria Passed away on July 17, 2014 at home with her loving family present. Lillian was born in 1929, the youngest child of Helgi and Helga Helgason in a family of three sons and four daughters. She grew up on the family farm located near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1950 she married Bob Sparkes and in following years they lived in many parts of Canada and the United States. Their four children were each born in a different province. Wherever Lillian lived she quickly made friends. She looked for the good in everyone and never uttered a mean word. She greeted everyone with kindness, understanding and the most beautiful smile. She belonged to a church congregation wherever she lived and worked tirelessly to support her church. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren who could do no wrong. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Bob; her four children, Gary (Ginette), Susan Robb (Doug), Sharlene Phelan (Jim), and Glen; her eight grandchildren, Marjorie, Liliane, Renée, Kurtis, and Jaime Sparkes, and Jacquelyn, Corey, and Brendan Robb; and her sisters Agnita Laxdal and Anna Johnson. She was predeceased by her parents; her three bothers, Gudi, Chris, and Joe; and her sister Dora Mumford. The family thanks Dr. Ismail and the homecare nurses, therapists and care workers who helped with Lillian's care. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at Duncan United Church on Wednesday July 30 at 11:00 am. All are invited to attend. On line condolences may be offered at: www.hwwallacecbc.com
