Nancy Lee Whetton FEB. 14, 1936 – NOV. 15, 2023
PAYETTE
Nancy Lee Whetton passed away quietly on November 15 in Payette, Idaho after a brief illness. She was born to Clair and Pauline Remington in Big Springs, Nebraska on February 14, 1936. The third of four children, she attended school in Big Springs until third grade when her family relocated to New Plymouth, Idaho where she graduated from high school in 1954. Nancy enjoyed participating in the social scene in high school, and was in the New Plymouth High School band.
She married Darrell Hulse of Middleton in January of 1955, in Fruitland. Son Tim was born in Caldwell, and they soon moved to Anacortes, Washington where daughters Vicki and Kathy were born. After several years they moved to Weiser where they raised their children, attended the Community Church, ran the Texaco Bulk Plant and were owner operators of the Pioneer Pac Out. Nancy was at her best running restaurants and serving people. She later bought Nancy's restaurant in Midvale and ran it for several years with her husband and daughters. Darrell passed away in July of 1981.
Nancy married Jack Whetton in the years after Darrell's death, and they had a nice home and enjoyable life in the Mann Creek area until Jack passed.
Nancy was very fond of travelling. She toured Europe once, and went on several Mediterranean cruises. Her favorite trip was to the Holy Land. She said she always had wanted to visit Jerusalem to see where Jesus ministered and was crucified to pay for her sins.
She was a person that loved the social scene in Washington county while married to Darrell. She made Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving memorable events for children and grandchildren with her fabulous meals and hospitality. She will be remembered for making sure everyone had a great time while we were together.
Nancy is survived by her sister Beverly Hess, brother-in-law Glenn Hill, son Tim, daughter Kathy (Ryan) Kerby, Grandchildren Tyrone (Rachel) Kerby, Erin (Jared) Bauder, her very special great grandchildren Allison and Whitney Bauder, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Vicki and son-in-law Rich Nicolona, her brother Keith, sister Ruth Hill, stepfather Walter Tomjack, and brother-in-law Duane Hess.
A memorial service will be held at the Riverside Cemetary in Payette at 11am, Saturday May 11, with pastor Phil Pittman officiating. There will be a reception at the First Baptist Church, 118 W Idaho, New Plymouth, following the service.
